Crazy for Pokemon

For the past two months all I have been hearing from Evan is how he can't wait to get the new Pokemon Black and White game. It was released last week and I pre-ordered it with the plan for it to be an Easter present.

It so happened that the boys were out of school all last week for the Mardi Gras holiday. By Wednesday, boredom had set in. That was the sane day that the game arrived and I decided to turn it into a Mardi Gras present instead.

Needless to say, Evan was thrilled. Todd said that he never heard of a Mardi Gras present. I guess we are starting a new tradition. Yes, and we couldn't leave Chad out, so he got the new Tron game. Maybe the Easter bunny will just be bringing candy this year?

I can't believe the new Pokemon game is here. Thank you Amazon and UPS!

Crazy Helicopter

Evan and Todd went to Todd's company Christmas party this past weekend. It was a big affair at the Civic Center. They had tons of food, bouncers for the children and, of course, Santa made a visit.


Evan received a remote control helicopter from Santa and couldn't wait for Todd to charge it up. After a charge, it will fly for five to seven minutes before needing another recharge, so the fun comes in bits and pieces. Here is a video of Evan learning how to fly his new toy. How long before it breaks?

Let Me Entertain You

Evan came home last Wednesday with a high fever. We went to the doctor on Thursday, but she couldn't determine what was wrong so just gave us instructions on how to get the fever down. By Saturday, the fever was down and I thought he was getting better. At that point though, the coughing and drippy nose started.

When he was really sick, Evan slept a lot. Now that he is feeling better, but not able to go to day camp, I have spent a lot of time trying to keep him entertained. It is so hot outside I have been keeping him inside so he doesn't get overheated. With him being such an "outside" kid, it has been a challenge to say the least. We have gotten some new lego sets and books. He has also been watching a lot of t.v. and playing video games. The photos below show some hightlights.

Clean Up!

Every so often the boys' playroom gets out of control. Toys have been outgrown, game pieces are scattered, stuff is piled on top of stuff and it becomes difficult to find anything to play with. On Saturday we all pulled together and tackled organizing the playroom. I focused on the arts and crafts shelf and Todd and the boys went through all of the toys.

We ended up with about three bags of trash, an organized room and a great feeling of accomplishment. Before we were even finished, Evan started getting ideas of art projects that he wanted to do. I think it was because he could once again see all of the neat stuff that he has.

More Bakugan

Here is a video of Evan explaining Bakugan to me. It is pretty cool the way that the plastic characters open when you place them on a metal card. It is amazing how much kids know. Can someone make these with an educational theme?

Baku What?

Late Saturday night Evan asked me to look on the internet and look up Bakugan because he wanted to buy a set. "Baku" what?" I asked. I thought that I was doing well because I am in the know about Pokemon, which involves characters on cards that he likes to collect and trade with his friends.

Well, it appears that some genius, who is soon to be a millionaire, has come up with another cast of characters and products that young boys can not live without. We made a trip to Target Sunday afternoon and Evan bought his first Bakugan set. Here are some photos of him enjoying his toy.
