Friends are Great!

Evan was lucky and got an invitation to his friend's younger brother's birthday party on Sunday. It was at Chuck E. Cheese, which I thought Evan was a little too old for. I was wrong. When you are with a friend, you can have fun anywhere!

Buddies!

Pancakes

The last time Evan went to visit at my parents house, he fell in love with her pancakes. Well, when he visited her two weeks ago, he learned at the master's feet, so to speak. He came back and couldn't wait to show off his cooking skills and make pancakes for our family. On Saturday he got his chance and it was a huge success!

Carefully measuring the water.

Mixing and making sure there are no lumps.

The hard part...waiting for the first side to get done.

The fun part...flipping!

Time to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

A Busy Week

Chad has been enjoying day camp this week and Evan has been sick and staying at home. I think his birthday wore him out! On Sunday, Evan started running a fever and by Monday he started with a horrible cough. After a few days of this and no signs of recovery, I took him to the doctor and found out that he has bronchitis. He is now on antibiotics and a cough medicine and seems to be on the mend. Hopefully, we can all get some sleep!

I have been intent on getting him well because he and Chad have a week scheduled with my parents in Texas starting tomorrow. They are all packed and we are ready to roll! What am I going to do for a week without the boys????

Some "Rock Band" time before the boys go to Texas.

The Celebration Continues

Since Evan didn't get a party on his actual birthday, we let him invite a couple of his friends over today to celebrate.

We all went to see the movie, The Last Airbender, and then ate some pizza. After that, it was video game time. It is now 6:00, the friends are gone and Evan is exhausted!

Happy Birthday Evan!

Wow, it is hard to believe that you are nine years old already! You arrived on your due date and boy was I ready to see you. Since then, the adventure hasn't stopped and you keep me on my toes. I love your curiosity and spirit for life. Hope you have a super fun day!

Evan's birthday celebration got off to an early start last night. Since we knew he was going to be at day camp today, we decided to spread the treats over several days. Since this was the start of the celebration, I told Evan that he could stay up until midnight. He was excited about that as it left a lot of open time for fun. I don't know if you can tell in the photo, which was taken at 6:30, but his eyes are already red from a long day. I had my doubts that he would hit the midnight mark.

We started off by letting Evan open his presents from us and his Aunt Amy and Uncle Brian. We then watched the movie "Avatar." After that, it was video game time. He played his new Mario Brothers game on the Wii until about 10:30. At that point, I could see that he was starting to fade fast. About 15 minutes later, he was in his bed playing his new Pokemon game and I am sure fell fast asleep not too much longer.

I went to get him up at 8:00 this morning and he was in bed, playing the Pokemon game and not missing a beat.
