Weekend Fun

Saturday was the last day of football for the Colts. It was tournament day and both Todd and Evan were excited to see how the team would do. The first game was at 8:30 in the morning and it was really chilly. They won their first and second games and made it to the finals. They ended up losing the championship game, but came in second place, so that is really something to be proud of. Way to go team and Coach!

On Sunday Evan and I made a trek to the pet store, which is one of his favorite places to go. He had coupons for some free fish and I needed to get some treats for Gwen. Evan put the fish in the pond, but it has been getting cooler here, so we will see how long they survive!



Last night Todd and Evan carved their annual pumpkin. I think that it turned out pretty good and they had a fun time. They will display it at Wanda's tonight, which is where Evan will do his Trick or Treating.

Adventures in Flag Football

A few weeks ago Todd got an email about Evan's Flag Football season starting. It gave some basic information and the great news that since Todd had volunteered to help out with the team, he was going to be the Coach. 

Since then there have been emails sent, plays written and a few practices. Yesterday the real excitement started as the team hit the field for two scrimmage games. I have to say that they looked pretty good out there. I can't wait to see how this season shapes up! Go Colts!

Evan's Football 2010

Last Saturday was gorgeous and Evan had two football games that morning. Next weekend is their last weekend to play and the season will be over. His team hasn't done well, only winning one game all season, but they really do play their hearts out every week. I have seen how much he has matured and how his focus has improved in just the past six months. My baby is really growing up!

Fall Break

The weekend was gorgeous here and the boys were extra excited because they don't have school Monday or Tuesday due to Fall Break. 

We had a busy Sunday. In addition to the Saints game, Todd decided what he wanted for his birthday...a new grill (now, isn't that really a present for all of us?). Anyway, since his birthday is next weekend, he decided to go ahead and pick out his grill this weekend. While he worked on putting it together, I took the boys our for Baskin Robbins ice cream. Every time we go there I have to tell them about how I worked at Baskin Robbins in Victoria when I was 16 years old. It was my first job and I have a lot of fun memories of my time there.

The Saints ended up losing, and we ended up with some sausage cooked on the new grill. You win some, you lose some, I guess!

Gorgeous Weather

A cool front came through yesterday morning and by the afternoon, the weather was perfect. I couldn't restrain myself and had to go outside and enjoy it while the boys practiced football. Fall, we are ready for you!

Flag Football 2010

Evan is playing flag football again this year and his team, the Dolphins, had their first two games this past Saturday. It was a sunny and HOT day out in the field where they were playing, so we were all sweating and drinking lots of water.

Evan's team lost both games, but they only had two practices beforehand, so I am sure they will improve as the season progresses. Go Dolphins!

The New Orleans Saints are playing their season opener tonight and everyone in our house is excited and ready for football. Evan school is having Saints day today, so he was able to wear a team shirt instead of his usual uniform. Todd dressed appropriately for work as well. Go Saints!

Weekend Fun

Now that the end of school is near, we all have spring fever. Not much has been happening during the week but we have enjoyed some nice family time on the weekends. Last night Todd got some bar-b-que and we invited our friend, Coach, to eat and hang out with us. She is a science and p.e. teacher at Evan's school and loves sports. That is great for Todd as they can talk Saints football and great for the boys who love to play Wii sports with her.

Today they boys participated in a karate tournament and both won 3rd place in their divisions. Way to go guys!

Go Saints & Crafty Evan

Everyone at our house is rooting for the Saints today. Todd has a life long love of the Saints and both of our boys are very aware of that.

In honor of the game today, Evan made Todd a Saints necklace. Todd is wearing it up until game time but then has to take it off because it isn't part of the lucky outfit that Todd wears for every game. I'm sure the team appreciates Todd's consideration!

Evan's Activities

Evan is very active and always on the move. This weekend he did a little crafting. He had a wooden alligator that needed painting. He love to paint so he was very excited about that project.


His friend from next door is moving, so they played together as much as possible this weekend. Lots of football, trampoline jumping, lizard finding and treasure digging were all on the agenda.

More Flag Football Fun

Last Saturday Evan played his last two flag football games of the season. He was a little moody because he attended a sleepover birthday party the night before and said that he went to sleep at 2 a.m. and woke up at 5 a.m.


Todd was a trooper and helped coach the team. He loves football and is great with kids, so it was a good fit and I think he enjoyed doing it.

Saints Tailgating

On Sunday afternoon we all went to a tailgating party in preparation for the Saints game. We feasted on barbecue and ice cream and played football and frisbee with the boys. The weather was so nice it was impossible not to have a great time.

Evan's Flag Football Game

On Saturday morning I took Evan to his flag foot ball game. Todd usually takes him, but had other things to do, so I jumped at the chance to see my boy in action on the field. He had a blast. For me, however, it was a comedy of errors. 


First of all, the weather had turned cooler. It was very sunny outside, so I wore jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt and made the assumption that I would be warm enough. Mistake #1...it was freezing out on the football field. Other parents were huddled in winter coats and under blankets and I was there freezing my tush off.


Misunderstanding number two: Todd said that Evan's games are 30 minutes. "No problem," I thought. We got there at 9:30 for some warm up practice, the game was supposed to start at 10:00...we would be out of there by 10:30 or so, right? No, I was wrong again. The game didn't start until 10:15 and the 30 minutes is start and stop game time, not 30 minutes continuous time.


Well, here I am taking photos of Evan, freezing and realizing that I am going to be here a lot longer than I thought. I eventually noticed that all of the other parents had brought lawn chairs to sit in. Did Todd tell me that I would need a chair? No, he helps coach the team, so he never uses a chair. I did have a mini-ice chest with two drinks in it, so I ended up using that to sit on as the ground was wet.


Eventually, it is 11:15 and the game is over. I am still freezing, my legs are killing me from sitting on the little ice chest and now we finally get to go home, right? No, not exactly. Then I find out that Evan's team has TWO games to play that morning. Fortunately, the second game is right after the first with no break in between. The games are finally over at, get this, 1:00 p.m. Talk about change of plans.


Anyway, Evan had a great time and I had lots of fun watching him and taking pictures. It all worked out in the end!

Football, Haircuts and Furniture Weekend

It seemed like we spent the whole weekend running. Evan started playing flag football and had his second practice on Saturday morning. After that, I was determined to take the boys for a haircut as they had been looking pretty shaggy for the past couple of weeks.


After the haircuts, I took the boys out to eat. While in the restaurant, we saw a young man a few years older than Chad who looked like his twin. Since Todd wasn't with us, we decided it would be a good idea to take his picture so that we could show him. We had the best time trying to figure out how to take the picture and be inconspicuous at the same time. I got one shot that ended up very blurry. Chad got one also, but it only showed the back of the young man's head. Needless to say, we weren't able to show Todd Chad's twin, but we did have a lot of fun trying.



We continue looking at furniture for our living room, but have yet to make any final decisions. There are just so many stores and choices. We have looked online and are also considering looking in New Orleans. With even more choices, I fear that we may have an empty room for a long time.


In addition to all of these activities, there was also a LSU game and a Saints game this weekend. Both teams won, so Todd is happy!
