Halloween Fun 2010

While I was at a meeting yesterday, Todd and the boys carved some pumpkins. They were both very proud of their work and the pumpkins turned out great!

On Halloween night, Evan went to his mee maw's to hand out candy and Chad went trick-or-treating with a friend. We ended up with plenty of candy, so we can call this a successful Halloween!

Chad's New Look

At Chad's school they are having drug awareness week. Instead of wearing a red ribbon, he decided that he wanted to wear a red tie. Since I was at a meeting last night, Todd being the awesome dad that he is, took Chad to get a tie. Here is the result:

Pretty impressive!

What I'm Reading

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book has a unique (though disturbing) plot line and the story kept me interested and moved at a good pace. Entertaining read...I liked it enough to now move onto the second book.

Evan's Football 2010

Last Saturday was gorgeous and Evan had two football games that morning. Next weekend is their last weekend to play and the season will be over. His team hasn't done well, only winning one game all season, but they really do play their hearts out every week. I have seen how much he has matured and how his focus has improved in just the past six months. My baby is really growing up!

Some action shots:

"I'm beat. This deserves a McFlurry!

Hanging out with the Pigs

I haven't posted much about the guinea pigs lately. They are still alive and doing well. Here are a couple of photos of Chad and Riku taken last week. It is amazing how much the boys and pigs have grown since August 2009.

Fall Break

The weekend was gorgeous here and the boys were extra excited because they don't have school Monday or Tuesday due to Fall Break.

We had a busy Sunday. In addition to the Saints game, Todd decided what he wanted for his birthday...a new grill (now, isn't that really a present for all of us?). Anyway, since his birthday is next weekend, he decided to go ahead and pick out his grill this weekend. While he worked on putting it together, I took the boys our for Baskin Robbins ice cream. Every time we go there I have to tell them about how I worked at Baskin Robbins in Victoria when I was 16 years old. It was my first job and I have a lot of fun memories of my time there.

The Saints ended up losing, and we ended up with some sausage cooked on the new grill. You win some, you lose some, I guess!

I'm glad Todd is handy at putting things together!

"We love ice cream!"

Happy Birthday, Todd!

Ramp Challenge

Evan has really been enjoying his new bike. Chad had a ramp that he used to use and I told Evan that he could ride his new bike on it. At first, he said "No way!" Then, behind my back (just in case he didn't like it), Evan pulled the ramp out into the middle of our driveway and rode his bike over it. After doing this about five times, he came and got me so I could see. He is still a little hesitant, but is enjoying more thrills with his bike.

Shrimp Feast

Todd came through on Sunday and cooked up a storm after the Saints game. They won and we all had a great day so it really felt like a celebration.

Todd needed a new fryer and bought one on Saturday in preparation for cooking on Sunday. In addition to making fried shrimp, he also made some baked shrimp for us to eat the next several days. Side dishes were onion rings, green beans and cole slaw. It was all very yummy!

Gorgeous Days

Since the weather has been so nice, the boys have been spending a lot of time outside in the afternoons. I even threw the softball with them one day and boy was my arm sore the next day. Here are a couple of photos from our time outside.

"Look, mom, I can ride and smile at the same time!"

Evan not wanting his photo taken (but smiling nevertheless)!

Chad after I wore him out (ha) throwing the softball.

Love Dem Shrimps

One of the great things about living in South Louisiana is the FOOD. Todd got an ice chest full of shrimp this past week and boy are they beauties. Evan helped him take the heads off so that Todd can freeze them for future use. Todd left some out and I have been promised fried shrimp on Sunday. Can't wait! YUM!

Evan is excited about helping with the shrimp. Chad, not so much.

"Why can't all my chores be fun like this?"

Beauties!

"I can't wait to cook you up!"
