Thanks to Clover Lane!

I have been playing around with the banner at the top of my blog. Thanks to Clover Lane for the easy instructions on how to do this with Picasa. I can't wait to play with it some more!

Chad's First Basketball Game

Chad decided that he wanted to participate in the parish's basketball league this year. This is his first experience with organized sports and has been practicing with his coach and team of 13 and 14 year old's for the past several weeks. At this age, hormones have kicked in for some of the boys, so the heights of the boys range from about 5' 5" to 6'. Chad is on the lower end of that range so he plays at the top of the key on offense while the taller boys play in the spots closer to the basket.

His team, the 76ers, had their first game on Saturday. Chad was a little nervous but excited to finally put his skills into action. It turned out to be an exciting game with a only a few points separating both teams for most of the game. Even Evan was into the game and watching every call made by the officials.

In the end, his team was down by one point with .2 of a second left on the clock. It wasn't enough time for them to get a shot in, but they made a good effort and all gave 100%. Way to go 76ers!

What a close game!

Muddie is Growing

We continue to have a lot of fun watching our pets grow and change. This week Muddie was shedding, which Evan tells me is a sign that she is healthy and growing. Here are some photos of what she looked like:

Mardi Gras Day 2010

In spite of the chilly weather, we had a great day celebrating Fat Tuesday. We went to a get together at our church where Todd bar-b-qued and everyone brought food for our feast. The children had a great time before the parade playing basketball and hanging out on the playground. A few of my photos are below, but you can check out the rest here.

New Awning Photo

Last week I blogged about the awning that was knocked down at the grocery store where I shop. Someone that Todd works with was there right after it happened and got a better photo. Thankfully, no one was hurt!

Fallen Awning

I went to the grocery store yesterday and found that much of the front of the store was blocked off. After looking around, I noticed that a large piece of awning was off the building and on the ground. It turns out that a delivery truck tried to go underneath it, but the truck was too high and tore the whole thing down. Small town excitement!!!!

Carnival Season is Here

We are all getting in the carnival mood. Evan and Todd have been to one parade and Evan had a fun parade at his school yesterday. He came home with a lot of beads and loot, including some artificial bait. Unusual, but he loved it!

Here is a painting that Evan did to celebrate the season:

Uncle Stefan Meets Muddie

Todd's brother, Stefan, was in town last weekend so he came by the house to spend some time with the boys and check up on all of their critters. He was amazed at how much the guinea pigs have grown. They eat a lot of fruit and vegetable, so I don't know how they are putting on so much weight.

This was Stefan's first time meeting Muddie. He liked looking at her, but wasn't sure that he wanted to pet or hold her. Evan didn't mind holding her and Stefan got his courage up and gave her a quick pet.

Thanks for stopping by...we enjoyed the visit!

Uncle Stefan is a little squeamish about petting a lizard.

Chad's Ice Skating Adventure

Chad's school had a field trip to an ice skating rink last Friday. The rink is about an hour away and he rode with one of his best friends from school. After the skating, they all went out to eat, so it turned out to be a really fun day.

During the skating, Chad noticed that the skate was rubbing against his leg, but didn't pay too much attention to it. His socks were shorter than the skate and with all of the rubbing, he ended up have a very large blister on his leg. He has been a trooper, though, and would go ice skating again in a heart beat.

"Hey, this is kinda fun."

"Wow, I am really skating!"
