Sunday Fun

The weather was so nice yesterday that the boys played outside all day. Evan came across the shell of a robin's egg and was very pleased with that find. He also searched under the slip and slide, where it is very moist, and found a whole cupful of grubs.

At one point the boys decided that they wanted to practice hitting golf balls. We went to Academy sports and bought some practice balls (so they wouldn't knock out any windows) and they hit those up and down our yard for an hour or so.

Todd was busy in the kitchen, which is his usual Sunday afternoon activity. He made a traditional Lebanese dish called Sheik al Meshee. It is a stuffed eggplant concoction with all of the traditional flavors of cinnamon, mint and lemon juice, which is cooked with tomatoes and ground beef and then served over rice. He made basmati rice which has a wonderful nutty aroma. My house smelled like restaurant as dinner time approached. Todd's mom joined us for dinner and added some potato salad and peas. The whole meal was such a treat. Thanks for cooking, babe!

"Wow, look at that ball go."

"I'm going to crush this one."
